I trust Vigneault's reasoning for his lineup choices. But personally I'd rather have Voracek on the 3rd line than JVR. I think JVR's finishing ability is a bit wasted down there, and Voracek's playmaking ability can elevate the 3rd line forwards more than JVR can. |

JVR and Jake switched lines for the entire 3rd period. |

Maybe they see something else in practice.
I want Frost up here. But once again...... |

Seems like he needs some time in the AHL. Farabee should be the first call up. |

I like that AV is sending a message to Voracek. When Jake is motivated and in the game he is a force of nature. He will start hitting and even fight, on top of scoring.
But then, he will just become stupid. Start making dumb passes, forget to backcheck, and just disappear.
Its good we have a coach that hopefully can recognize those periods and get him back on track....(hopefully) |

Frost was clearly not ready for the NHL in the pre season. I doubt that has changed since then. |

The top forwards group is really a Top-9 so a winger or two that might even be able to play on a top line will be on the 3rd. Playing on the 4th line might be a coaching statement but more so if one starts the game there.
When Patrick returns and Farabee is eventually recalled, a possible 3rd line could be
Farabee - Patrick - Voracek

He got hurt. Before that, he was neck and neck w/ Farabee. |

I don't agree. Frost was not as strong around the puck or on the forecheck as Farabee was. Significant difference. |

yeah i thought farabee was a lot more consistent game in, game out. frost had a couple games where he was trying to do a little too much and losing the puck. he looked solid right before he got hurt though. |

And Frost consistently created more scoring chances.
Neither had a perfect camp, both had gaffes and moments where their inexperience was on display. I felt like both played well enough to make the team, but Twarynski was too noticeable. |

I don't believe that is true either. Farabee, especially on the physical end was significantly ahead of Frost. I believe that Farabee is NHL ready now even though playing in the AHL may be the best place for him right now. I believe that Frost needs some time in the AHL to get stronger and improve to get ready for the NHL. |

Several posters have mentioned a conditioning stint for Patrick. I think there could be a significant advantage to having him play on a line with Farabee on the Phantoms for a couple games.

It's not a bad idea. It's going to be very difficult for Patrick to jump right into NHL action without a training camp or pre season. Just functioning in life is difficult with a migraine issue let alone playing pro hockey.

Raffl tries his best, but he's not a center. If Patrick isn't going to be back shortly they need to bring up a real center from the Phantoms.
They should also be swapping Bunnaman for Farabee ASAP.

It's also much easier to start out on the wing, than at center. |

short of no points I do think Farabee earned it. I think with the schedule in the beginning of the season, they made the right call by sending him down. Great chance to prove he is ready and get good minutes.
Same thought process for Frost and he has not proved them wrong by sending him down...
Be interesting when they get back in town. If they split or lose the next 2 games, or don't score and play well, you could see them bring Farabee back up |

True but in individual puck battles and the like, not much of a factor.

I know they have been on a role, but would like to see them try

Jake has played well with lind before and coots. Get him going. Konecny has been on a tear. He and G played well together before. Maybe this will help G get some goals. He has looked great, but is starting to get frustrated with his near hits it seems. |

All three like to have the puck, I think Jake looks a little lost with Hayes and G on the puck like they are...
I am a fan of putting Jake with JVR |

Or they could spread the wealth of stellar defense-to-offense that both Lindblom and Coots possess. Keep TK with Lindblom on a line
Lindblom - Hayes - TK
And go with
G - Coots - Voracek
Or
JVR - Coots - G
